The Internet is still reeling from yesterday’s (Sep. 15) bombshell announcement that Cardi B had filed for divorce from her other half, rapper Offset of Migos. The two had been married for 3 years and despite their problems, had stayed together. Now with 2-year old Kulture in play, Cardi’s lawyers are trying to set the record straight.

It was only a few years ago that Offset interrupted one of Cardi’s performances at Rolling Loud in which he asked her to take him back, making a lavish demonstration of his love after the pair had previously broken up over infidelity. Back then, Offset posted a video apologizing.

“I’ve only got one birthday wish, and that’s to get my wife back,” a day after his 27th birthday. He also went on to apparently address his reported infidelity by admitting that he had been “partaking in activity that [he] shouldn’t have been [partaking] in.”

Some had issues then with the way that the rapper even apologized publicly – by interrupting her set at the festival, in which she was the first woman to ever headline the event. Back then, Cardi still stood up for Offset – but one can guess that that won’t be the case the 2nd time around.

Though a divorce seems to be pending, Cardi’s still celebrating the success of her “WAP” – collaboration with the super-hot Megan Thee Stallion. The pair recently celebrated another record-breaking first together, courtesy of a new Billboard chart, and it couldn’t have come at a better time for Cardi’s mood.

“Cardi B’s ‘WAP,’ featuring Megan Thee Stallion, rules the initial Billboard Global 200 chart. The song leads with 100.9 million global streams and 23,000 global downloads sold in the week ending Sept. 10,” according to Billboard. “WAP” was also the most-streamed song of the week globally, beating BTS’ “Dynamite.” The new chart ranks songs based on streaming and sales activity from more than 200 territories around the world.

As is usual with a high-profile announcement like this, there’s been plenty of rumors and “sources” that have come out of the woodwork about the divorce and other details surrounding it. While neither artists have spoken out themselves about any of the news that has emerged, TMZ continues to discover more about the divorce through court documents – and it seems that Cardi at least is hoping to get this done as easily and cleanly as possible.

Seizing onto new documents filed in the case, TMZ is reporting that Cardi’s amended the previous petition because her lawyer was initially overzealous in his initial filing. The first filing asked for legal custody and primary physical custody of Kulture but that’s not what Cardi wanted at all, apparently.

Cardi wants an “amicable resolution” according to sources — which also is stated in the re-filed documents. They also state that they want to share joint custody and she won’t be seeking support from him.

It seems that she believes the two can work it out, at least when it comes to Kulture. TMZ also reports that she wants the courts to enforce whatever arrangement she and her soon to be ex-husband reach about their daughter.
