Former 3LW group member Naturi Naughton is more widely known these days for her role as Tasha as Starz’ Power. The girl group gave Naughton her first taste of the business but the split from the group was infamously not amicable. With Power Book II: Ghost having premiered successfully, the issues are resurfacing, and it seems her former group members may not be so excited to go back down memory lane.
“I think a lot of people that know me now, who even watch Power, don’t realize how long my journey has been. This has been since I was 15 and I’ve been in the business for 20 years. I look back at that experience of being in a girl group, although it had some learning experiences that were growing pains, it just showed me what it takes to make it in this industry,” Naughton told People.
Naughton told the outlet that she’s preparing to return to her first love, which is music, after years away due to acting, raising a child and more. Her getting back to the music is reviving old feelings, because of what Naughton has pledged to cover in her upcoming release. “I’m excited to just tell my story through song because a lot the songs I’d talk about feelings I had after being ousted from 3LW,” Naughton explains.
Ex-group member Kiely Williams has already posted a dig at her ex-friend, who Naughton says she no longer speaks with. Williams posted an image on Instagram that was a play on the brand “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter,” except the words have been changed to “I Can’t Believe You’re Still Bitter.”
