Keyshia Cole has had much to celebrate recently as she and her ex-husband Daniel “Booby” Gibson have finally had their divorce finalized. After a long process and years of being separated, the pair are finally free, although the two have dated in between.
The Oakland native R&B singer met and began to date the former NBA player in May of 2009, and he proposed to her on January 1, 2010. Before getting married in 2011, the couple had a son, Daniel Gibson, Jr. on March 2, 2010. The pair got married in a private ceremony in Vegas, before having a bigger ceremony a few months later in Hawaii where they renewed their vows. She tweeted at the time her excitement with how Gibson took care of everything, saying “My husband wanted me to have my dream wedding so he flew all of our family members here. He’s giving me something I will never forget! Amazing.” The ceremony was filmed for their BET reality series “Keyshia and Daniel: Family First”.
The marriage wouldn’t last however, as speculations of the two separating would arise. A photo posted by the former NBA star showing him and Houston based stripper “HTown Ciara” in a strip club prompted a whirlwind of rumors as well as a few posts from Cole, further adding fuels to the flame of dissension. The “I Should’ve Cheated” singer appeared on “The Breakfast Club” and while she didn’t confirm or deny the status of their relationship, she explained her headspace at the moment.

“I just want to put my music out and sit in my own craziness. And chill out for a minute,” she said to the hosts. “I don’t really know what I want to do right now. I don’t really want to talk about it. I don’t even want to go into it. I’d just rather avoid those kind of questions for my son’s sake. We’ll know it as the time goes by, what’s going to happen…I just want to protect my son, that’s it…No matter how much I dislike this man, it will never be to the point where he can’t see his son. Period.”
Cole announced in April of 2017 that the couple was filing for divorce, but it would take until this month for the divorce to be finalized. Within that time the two moved on, with Keyshia being paired with Birdman for a period of time, and then with Niko Khale, in which the (maybe former) couple welcomed a child, her second son. Gibson has moved on with girlfriend Sinfony Rosales, and all four gathered earlier this year to celebrate the 10th birthday of Keyshia and Booby’s son.
With rumors circulating now that the R&B singer and Khale are no longer together (the two are no longer following one another on Instagram, and she’s since deleted all photos of him on her page) and the divorce finally being complete, Keyshia took to Instagram to celebrate. “I’m so damn happy my divorce is FINALLY, FINAL,” the singer exclaims. “This is not a SHADE POST PROMISE! Just a genuinely happy post, that that weight is lifted from over both our heads..”
She recently also took to Twitter to share what she likes in a man, sharing her preference and admitting she has a type. “I love a chocolate [man] summN…I’ve noticed,” she shared, continuing “I also love a kind man. I’ve noticed.” Even though seemingly being back on the market, one user decided to throw some shade her way, saying “but you still don’t know how to keep one.” This, bringing Keyshia to react towards the fan, responding with “See that’s where y’all got me f*cked up at. A n***** don’t kno how to keep me… Respectfully [sis]”.
